Essential oils are aromatic liquids distilled from the flowers, seeds, leaves, bark, roots and trees of plants. Each essential oil offers benefits to the body in aromatherapy, whether inhaled directly or applied topically with a carrier oil or lotion during a massage.

When you breathe through your nose, smells stimulate receptors that carry through olfactory nerves to an area of your brain called your limbic system. The limbic system controls emotions and influences the nervous system and hormones.

Essential oil molecules carry messages to the limbic system, affecting your heart rate, stress levels, blood pressure, breathing, memory, digestion and immune system. Essential oils can be calming or energizing.

What is the raindrop technique?

Raindrop is a combination of massage and reflexology techniques, combined with essential oils and hot towels. This treatment was created by Dr. Gary Young and a Lakota medicine man to facilitate structural and electrical realignment in the body, especially the spine. This treatment is used for spinal curvatures, with the belief that viruses may lie dormant in the spine. Using a combination of seven powerful, healing and vibrant "Young Living" essential oils: Oregano, Thyme, Basil, Cypress, Wintergreen, Marjoram and Peppermint and 2 blends: Valour and  Aroma Siez. These are dropped along the reflexology points of the spine on the feet, and like raindrops along the back, encouraging healing and spinal structural alignment. This is a deep therapeutic treatment and also very relaxing.
